Hi, this thread will be about Nozbe for iPhone.
I'll try to post the first beta-version Saturday afternoon so I'd love you to test it on your iPhone.
Since I live in Europe, I actually won't be able to test it myself - so I need your help with this one.
One more thing - Nozbe for iPhone will be a special, simplified version of Nozbe - something between Nozbe.mobi and Nozbe.com - and will be used not only in iPhone, but also as an iGoogle Gadget and Dashboard widget for the Mac, Opera Widget... and more...
But iPhone with its great UI is the first target platform.
So - if you are a lucky owner and want to give Nozbe for iPhone a try, please post here as I will update this thread with more info and will be counting on your feedback.

I have an iphone and would be happy to test.

I purchased an iPhone last weekend and despite all the cool features the device offers (eg. iPod, Web browsing, YouTube), I must admit I was a bit hesitant to give up my trusty Treo 680, which I've used to keep me organized with my own GTD system using the Treo's To Do list function. So I was delighted to find Nozbe a few days ago and have been very pleased with it on my iPhone. I'd be happy to help test the beta-version. As for the current nozbe.mobi version, I have a few comments:
* Remember Me. It would be nice to not have to enter my e-mail and password everytime I log into the site. I'm slowly getting used to the iPhone's keyboard, but when I need to enter a single action step to my project, it's a little tedious to have to enter my e-mail and password first.
* Drag-and-Drop Ordering. I'm constantly reordering my priorities on the site so it would be nice to be able to drag-and-drop action steps on my iPhone, too.
Thanks for a great site. I've checked out other GTD Web-based systems, and yours is by far the best.
Cheers,
Bodogue

Thanks gburch and daxx22 for joining. I'll post more info on the version tomorrow.
Dax22 - let me answer your comments:
- remember me - yes, this is a great idea. Will definitely be implemented.
- drag-and-drop - nozbe.mobi is the minimalist version of Nozbe without any Javascript because most mobile phones don't support javascript. iPhone does, that's why we are now working on a dedicated version for the iPhone - which would be also simpler than the normal version, but with Javascript which will enable inline editing, dynamic checking/unchecking etc.
As far as drag-and-drop on the iPhone is concerned, it will not be possible due to the iPhone constraints (in iPhone when you move your finger when touching the screen - you scroll... not drag) but I've found a workaround so that you could still reorder your tasks.
Keep your comments coming and I'm still inviting more iPhone'ers to the club ![]()

I have been using GTD for several years, and I got an iPhone on Saturday. I am now using Nozbe for my home GTD system (I maintain 2 systems) and am interested in testing the iPhone interface.

Would be happy to test the Nozbe iPhone version. Thanks, Robert.

Hello everyone - it's been a tough weekend and we've almost finished the iPhone version. It looks great
and we're happy with the progress.
It took us a little more time than we initially thought, but we'll try to post a first beta-version of the iPhone-Nozbe later today (afternoon, EST time)
...and announce the final version on Wednesday. So we'll have two days (starting today up until Wednesday) to go from beta to "official" release.
Thanks for your support and just bookmark this thread - I'll post the link to the beta iPhone-Nozbe version later today for you to test. Thanks!

I would love to test the iPhone interface.

OK, the iPhone interface - initial beta version is ready.
I decided to call Nozbe for the iPhone - iNozbe and it's available under iNozbe.com
It took more time to develop and test as I initially thought - please post your comments on this thread. Now it's time to point your iPhones to this address:
www.iNozbe.com
Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I love it! Thanks so much.
The layout is clean and easy to use and it will be a great tool for me.
The biggest, and only, problem I am having now is that I can't add new actions. I can type in the action and choose a context and time, but then there is no button to push to actually add the action. My options are a greyed out "New Action" button or "Cancel".
I love how easy it to to make an action a "next action" by simply pushing on the star.
Thanks again!
Offline
Thanks - the "New Action" shouldn't be greyed out - I will have a look at it and fix it.
The "starring" - works the same way it does in your traditional Nozbe - just had to make it a little bigger for the iPhone ![]()

At present you have to press the "Go" button on the iPhone keyboard and the action is added.
Files are not visible. Is it possible to do this on the iPhone? Attachments work in emails, so I would think it would be usable here.
Thanks, in any event for the iPhone widget. it's terrific. I just wish the site weren't so expensive. I'm afraid it's looking a bit out of my range. What can I say. I'm in education.

Thanks for the comments.
C'mon billdill, you have the money for a $500 gadget + $60 monthly service and you don't have the $5 for a tool that would keep you productive? And now it's even 50% of that with a prepaid plan. iPhone is expensive. Nozbe hardly costs anything. But I understand - it's the mindset - thinking - why pay for a web application when so many web apps are free... well if Nozbe saves you time and makes you more productive - you earn a lot more!
OK, back to the topic. I'm now checking the Add action button and will refine some things in iNozbe.
Please let me know if you have other comments. Thanks!

I don't have an iPhone as I live in europe, but I've tried Nozbe for iPhone on Opera Mini (on Nokia 6288) - it looks real nice, and I guess it looks even nicer on the iPhone... more functonalities than on Nozbe Mobi - the possibilty to edit and delete is nice. I'm however not able to find any possibility to add any items at all, but I guess I'm not supposed to..
Will you make a shoutout once Nozbe is available for iGoogle?

You know what Michael? A bit off-topic with this one - but Nozbe is the only single thing I've ever paid for on a computer my entire life, besides OS and Office.. I always use freeware/opensource for my software needs, or free online apps/services - as mentioned, Nozbe is the one single thing I've ever found worthwhile paying for.. even though there's a lot of great online services and software out there that maybe deserve my money - but you and Nozbe deserve my money the most! ![]()
Again, I have to say this - after completing GTD by Mr Allen, I was only hoping there was an online service matching the stuff he was writing about, as I would never have been able to keep all my stuff in writing on a physical note..
I love how you keep developing it, and hope you will continue with that...

I've been trying to test every aspect of this.
I can be logged in to my nozbe account on my computer and on my iphone at the same time and changes made in one are then included in the refresh on the other. I changed the color in settings on my computer and it then changed it on the iphone. I added new tasks on both. I added a new context on the iphone and it showed up on the computer. This is handy to be able to go back and forth. If I remember a big task that i need to add I can just sit down at the computer for a bit, but if I just want to check something it's great to just be able to turn on the iphone and see it instantly without having to log back out and in.
Also, the trick of hitting "GO" works to add a new action. I had to go back up into the text box to get the go button, but it worked.
Sometimes it is hard to hit the context buttons or the star exactly right. I've found that turning the iphone to landscape makes it just that much bigger that it is easier to do this.
I was having a hard time closing up the edit box when I clicked on a task. Then I realized I could just hit the task again and it would close back up.
When I am in a particular project, there's no way to go directly to another project without going first to the entire project list by hitting the projects tab. It takes about 15 seconds to load the projects tab (I only have 5 projects) and then about 20 seconds to load a particular project page. It would be great to have a list of my projects at the end of every particular project tab, so I could just go directly to the one i want, however, I understand this might complicate things and slow them down to a degree that makes it not worth it. I guess the same note could be made for Contexts.
Thanks again for making this. It is very easy to use and just feels right. I am not very experienced with the GTD method, but I can start to see the beauty of it here. (side question: I share a lot of project lists with my husband and for tasks that are "his" or "mine" i write, for example, "caitlin: do this thing". Is there a better GTD protocol to use for that?)
Thanks,
Caitlin

Found 1 bug so far: clicking on context icon first expands selection and then takes you to everything for that context. Probably should not expand in this case, its minor but it did confuse me at first since I was on edge and it was a little slow.
Found 1 wishlist item: Ability to add next action from anywhere, not just in projects. I will have nozbe open most of the time on my phone and will probably be at some random spot in it and I don't want to think where I will have to navigate to so that I can add an action I want to do it as quick as possible.
Looks Great!

NTpruk - thanks for your comments - very encouraging! I will quote you on my buzz page if you don't mind ![]()
Thanks for your thorough review, CaitlinS
I will see what I can do to speed things up a little more.
Greg, I will add the ability to add next action from anywhere that's for sure.
I will be publishing a revised version of iNozbe later today and later announce it to the public so in case you have any last-minute comments/suggestions, please do let me know.

Update: I just decided to enhance iNozbe a little more which may result in a delay of the official iNozbe version until tomorrow... but it will be worth the wait ![]()
CaitilnS - if everything goes all right - new iNozbe will be a lot faster than the version you are currently using!

It would be nice if, as soon as the site comes up on the iPhone, there were an ability to imnediately add either an action or a project. Generally when you're out and about with the iPhone I would think you just want to jot things down without a lot of processing. It's a drag to have to go to another screen to do anything except see the next actions list.

bdpasc - I guess you've been reading my mind ![]()
I've changed iNozbe utterly - it now looks like a native iPhone application. Just have a look for yourself:
www.iNozbe.com
It works 10 times faster than the old one, feels like an iPhone application and should be easier to use.
Since you have the iPhones, guys, please let me know and enjoy! I will blog about it now.

Awesome. Looks great - just what I was hoping the final product would be
. I haven't found any bugs yet but I haven't used it too much just played around. Great job. Will let you know any feedback when I play with it more.

Found a new bug:
Goto Contexts>Any Context and then click on the top left button to go back to Contexts. Once there you will notice the button disappears and there is no way to get back to the main screen. I have reproduced this everytime.

This is crazy great! It is super fast. I cannot believe how fast it is.
I have found no bugs.
The font size seems bigger in this version, but because the screen is so good on the iphone, I was finding it more useful at the smaller font size because I could see more on the screen at once. Also, the iphone is so fast when you flip it on it's side -- I would use that as an argument to have the smaller font size (meaning, hey, if it's too small to read or edit something, you just flip it sideways and read that part and then flip it back when you are done). To give you an example of how big the font is, since you don't have an iphone to see it -- now, when it's in landscape, I can basically only see one next action task and in portrait mode, I can see 5 tasks.
Are you considering having it open on the next actions page? I found that useful the first time I was testing it.
Thanks again for this. It will add so much to my iphone!
